Friends of The Mead

The Friends of The Mead School is a registered charity and member of the PTA-UK. Its aim is to support the school by raising funds to support the development of the school not provided for by the normal school budget. We work in partnership with the school to organise and support events that enrich the curriculum for the children and give the community the opportunity to get involved with the school. These have included the Community Art Days, Green Fair and Science Week.

Since the school has opened the main focus for fundraising has been the development of the school grounds and we have raised funds and provided volunteers to plant trees and create a pond on both sites.

In 2012 we worked hard to produce an Olympic themed garden.

We are really proud of the difference we have made to the grounds with big things like the Adventure Island at Hilperton and small things like bulb planting. We also run discos, cake sales, the summer fair and many other family events which we hope the community will enjoy.

Our AGM is held every October and all parents and carers are invited to attend and find out more about what we do. A committee is elected and this committee works throughout the year to organise and plan our activities. All parents and family members of pupils past and present are “friends” of the school and our events and meetings are open to everyone.

We created and continue to maintain a polytunnel, chickens and vegetable gardens at both sites and run Gardening Club at Hilperton and Wingfield.
