Last week our members of our school council attended the first meeting of the Trowbridge Youth Parliament. This body meets every term and has a representative from all schools in Trowbridge, they work together to make Trowbridge and it’s schools reflect the needs of the children who live and learn in the town.
For their first meeting the children were introduced to debating and spent some time watching a debate by the Youth Parliament in London.
They then voted on which topics they would like to debate at their next meeting and have brought them back to school for our council to discuss so they can reflect their views.
The topics they will be debating are:
Should the age children are allowed to use social media be lowered?
Should teachers wear school uniform?
Do spend some time talking about these questions with your child so they can be part of the debate and the views of our school community can be reflected.
